A mosaic can remain unchanged for millennia. St Elisabeth Convent’s Mosaic workshop has been continuing the ancient traditions of Byzantine mosaic art since the 1990’s. Our mosaic artists create their works using smalt (compound glass colourized with metal oxides) and lime gesso. Their technique requires scrupulousness, but the result speaks for itself.
