The celebrations in honour of the 230th anniversary of the foundation of the Minsk diocese of the Belarusian Orthodox Church will be held in Minsk on 17 September.
The festivities will begin at 10.00 a.m. in the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit with the Divine Liturgy presided by the Primate of the B.O.C.
On the same day the most venerated relics of Belarus will be brought to the Cathedral, such as the Barkolabovo and Zhirovichi icons of the Mother of God, as well as the cross of Venerable Euphrosyne of Polotsk.
At 13:00 there will be a festive concert at the walls of the Minsk City Hall with the participation of church choirs, professional and amateur groups.
An exhibition dedicated to the memory of the First Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus Metropolitan Philaret (Vakhromyev) will greet the guests at the City Hall. A special part of the programme will be the exhibition of the “Pokrov” Charitable Foundation for Family and Motherhood, dedicated to traditional family values.
From 12:00 to 16:00 there will be a festive fair on the territory of the Upper Town.
At 12:00 a field kitchen will serve porridge.
There will be a "Batleyka" puppet show for young spectators.
All visitors will be able to take part in an Orthodox quest starting every 30 minutes.
Fans of board games will have the opportunity to play both in pairs and in large teams.
